Seagate Hard Disk Introduce

Seagate is the first company to bring to market technologies such as vertical recording, hardware-based full disk encryption, and hybrid hard disks that enable you to have a digital life - whether from your home, handheld device, car, or office.
Continually invest in the development of new technologies to improve performance, speed, and area density (the ability to store more data in less space).
As digital content, such as music, videos, photos, and games, has increasingly entered People's Daily lives, static data storage is becoming obsolete. In today's on-demand world, access, share and protect your digital content with dynamic storage solutions that give you the freedom to work, create and interact anytime, anywhere.

When the first hard disks started shipping in 1956, only big companies could afford the expense and space required for these one-ton behemoths. Today, digital storage is everywhere. Whether you realize it or not, you probably deal with digital storage devices every day. Every time you go to your bank ATM, record and play your favorite TV show on your DVR, or download a song to your portable media player, you are accessing or storing information from your hard disk. Every day, content passes through a variety of storage devices before reaching your office computer or personal media player. Today's hard disks are used not only for storing content, but also for transferring and creating content. With the rise of downloads and instant access, you'll find an infinite amount of content to download, enjoy and share, anytime, anywhere.
The market for digital storage is growing rapidly, spurred by an explosion of content created and used, as well as new legislation requiring companies to store certain records and information. Today's storage solutions not only ensure the security of valuable data, but also help you achieve flexible access to information and media according to your needs. Access and get content from wherever you are, whether in your car, on a business trip, or at the gym. From home entertainment consumer electronics devices to large enterprise data centers, Seagate's digital storage solutions enable you to get the most out of your content, whether for work or play.

As an industry expert for 30 years, Seagate continues to lead the storage industry in innovative solutions. No hard disk vendor today can match Seagate's broad range of solutions. With a wide range of products ranging from home computing to enterprise data centers, Seagate offers advanced solutions for every industry requiring digital storage. The company is an industry leader in research and development and is committed to introducing new technologies that meet the needs of future development. From the beginning, Seagate has continued to create breakthrough innovations to solve the challenges of digital storage solutions. Seagate was the first company to bring to market technologies such as vertical recording, hardware-based full disk encryption and hybrid hard disks that enable you to have a digital life - whether from your home, handheld device, car, or office - and is constantly investing in the development of new technologies to improve performance, speed, and area density (the ability to store more data in less space).

Enterprise application

Enterprise-level applications are the backbone of the world's data storage. Today's companies require the ability to reliably store, manage, and protect large amounts of information. With a wide range of products optimized for rapidly growing enterprise applications, Seagate is a leader in providing innovative enterprise storage solutions. Seagate drives enable better, faster and more reliable cooling of business-critical storage systems, helping companies reduce costs and improve efficiency.

As an industry leader, Seagate is committed to providing technologies that improve company efficiency, such as platformization and vertical integration, to give companies a competitive advantage. Platformization helps Seagate provide a comprehensive product portfolio, allowing the company to apply one core technology platform to produce multiple products. Seagate applied the platformization concept to the manufacturing process, enabling Seagate to manufacture different specifications of hard disk products on the same production line, further improving efficiency, product quality and profit. Vertical integration technology has also played a huge role in simplifying the design and development process. Seagate designs, owns and manufactures all the core technologies needed to develop personal storage products, including magnetic heads, media, motors and printed circuit boards. The company does not rely on third parties to supply components and has full control over the entire development process and product roadmap, from component supply to technical improvement. As a result, product quality, profitability and time-to-market have improved dramatically, enabling Seagate to quickly meet customer requirements for quality, reliability and supply.

Seagate Technologies has been a leader in the storage industry for 30 years. Headquartered in Scotts Valley, California, Seagate employs more than 55,000 people worldwide who are dedicated to developing the company's next generation of storage products. From the original 5.25-inch hard disks for PCS to the development of vertical recording technology, the company pioneered new industry standards that greatly facilitated the advancement of the digital information age. Through technology leadership and innovation, Seagate continues to help individuals and companies maximize their use of digital content in an ever-evolving, on-demand world.

Each manufacturer has its own set of rules, you can hardly remember so much, write commonly used good, such as Seagate hard disk "ST" after the first number is the first part of the appearance of the hard disk, Seagate hard disk shape code are 1, 3, 4, 5, 9 five. Among them, 1 represents a 3.5-inch full-height hard disk with a thickness of 41mm, and 3 represents a 3.5-inch half-height hard disk with a thickness of 25mm, which is also the most mainstream product at present. 4 indicates a 5.25-inch hard disk with a thickness of 82mm, 5 indicates a 3.5-inch hard disk with a thickness of 19mm, and 9 indicates a 2.5-inch half-height hard disk.

The second part of the number after "ST" is two to three digits, which represents the capacity of the hard disk, the unit is G, such as 160, indicating 160G, if it is only two digits, such as 80, it represents 80G.
The third part of the number after "ST" is a number, representing the capacity of the hard disk cache, 7200.11 in the hard disk, this 3 means 32M, 6 means 16M, 8 means 8M, but in other series, it is also useful to use the power of 2 to indicate the size of the cache, such as 3 is 2 to the power of 8M, 4 means 16M, 5 means 32M, 7200.12 series ST3500418AS is this representation, the cache is 16M;

The fourth part after the "ST" is two digits (in rare cases, three digits), and usually the first digit represents the number of hard disks. The second (or last two) digits are reserved.The last part of the model is A letter, usually one or two, representing the interface type of the hard disk, where "A" represents the interface of the ATA UDMA/33 or UDMA/66 IDE, and "AS"/" SV "represents the interface of the Serial ATA150/300. "AG" represents the interface of the ATA for notebook computers, "LW" represents the interface of the 68-pin Ultra-2 SCSI(LVD), and "LC" represents the interface of the 80-pin Ultra-2 SCSI(LVD).
With Seagate Coolfish 7200.10 160Gbytes ST3160215A, it means that Seagate Coolfish series 10 generation 7200rpm 160G hard disk, ST3160215A, ST means Seagate, 3 means it is a 3.5 inch half high hard disk, 160 represents 160G, and 2 represents the cache 2M. 15 means it uses A platter (160G), and A means it uses an ATA interface.
